The Indonesian government has introduced enhanced health protocols at all entry points, especially airports, to prevent the spread of a new Mpox variant. All travelers, including both Indonesian citizens and foreign visitors, are now required to complete the SATUSEHAT Health Pass, an electronic health declaration form, before entering the country.
M. Syahril, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, explained that these measures are in response to the detection of the Mpox Clade Ib variant outside Africa. This new strain is believed to have a higher severity, faster transmission rates, and could even affect children. To prevent its spread in Indonesia, stricter screening procedures are now in place.
To implement these measures, the Ministry of Health has coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation to require the SATUSEHAT Health Pass for all international travelers. The Ministry of Transportation has issued new guidelines, asking all airlines operating flights to Indonesia to inform passengers about the need to fill out the SATUSEHAT Health Pass before boarding.

In addition, travelers who feel unwell within 21 days of arrival in Indonesia, especially those coming from areas where the new Mpox variant has been detected, are advised to seek immediate medical attention and present their SATUSEHAT Health Pass QR code at health facilities.
